Salvage car value is not the auction bid — it is what the vehicle is worth after you repair it, relative to a clean-title comp. We estimate that clean market value (sometimes called ACV or retail value when fixed) from year, make, model, and mileage, then apply a title discount and a small damage adjustment (never more than 10 percentage points up or down).
How title type and damage affect salvage value
Salvage-title units start below a clean-title baseline; rebuilt titles retain more than open salvage. Primary damage from the listing (flood, front-end, airbags, cosmetic, and so on) moves the estimate by up to 10 percentage points — severe flood or SRS deployment lowers it the most; minor cosmetic damage may raise it slightly within that cap.
